Our Story of   
 Cotton Canine  

It turns out that my childhood served as a source of inspiration for the Cotton Canine. As a native of California, from a family of San Joaquin Valley farmers in west Fresno County, I grew up where cotton- farming flourished. Intrinsic with my environment, I was a 4-H kid fortunate to have volunteer 4-H leaders who taught me the art of sewing. Equipped with these skills, coupled with a mother and grandmother who fueled my sewing confidence, I began creating personal apparel and home décor.

Another lifelong passion is my love for dogs. Dogs were always important members of my childhood family. Influenced by the joy dogs contributed to my youth, the homes I established out on my own have always been graced by a loving canine companion.

Pairing my affinity for fabrics, textiles and design with my inherent love for dogs; I created customized scarves for each of my dogs…and for every occasion. My dog scarf designs were ever-changing over the years, always striving for pure comfort and wide variety.

Years into my scarf design hobby, I had an opportunity to expand. It began as I wrapped up a 34-year executive career in higher education and healthcare advancement, entering retirement in 2016. My husband and I returned to our Clovis roots to be near family. Top priority in the relocation was to find a groomer for Gracie, our Schnoodle puppy. Gracie became a regular at our neighborhood dog spa, always sporting a new scarf. The shop owner expressed interest in adding my scarves to her offerings of dog boutique accessories. The first order was placed, the first collection was designed, and the first production evolved from a personal hobby to the launch of a boutique business, fondly named the Cotton Canine.
